The night before a procedure, the mind runs ahead of itself. These verses are for the waiting room of the heart.
// the word for this moment
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)“What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.”
Psalm 56:3 (KJV)Surgery puts you in a position most of life avoids — handing control to someone else, in a room you can't see into, for a length of time you can't shorten by worrying. That loss of control is exactly where fear grows fastest. But Philippians 4 doesn't say pray instead of being anxious — it says pray in the middle of it, with thanksgiving, and let God's peace do what your own reasoning can't: guard your heart and mind, even when you can't see the outcome yet.
