Sickness wears down more than the body. These verses are for the long, tiring middle of it.
// the word for this moment
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
“The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.”
Psalm 41:3 (KJV)“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)Illness has a way of stripping away the strength you usually rely on — and that's an uncomfortable place to live, even briefly. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says something that doesn't make natural sense: that strength is actually made complete in weakness, not despite it. That's not a reason to feel guilty for being tired. It's permission to stop pretending you're not, and let that be the place grace shows up loudest.
