Good day everyone, I have to testify. I was just in a Daiso store shopping. A Daiso store is a store called 110 yen...meaning things are relatively cheap there. I picked up a few items and was brooding over the fact that I just spent 8,800 yen on dry cleaning. Anyway, a beautiful elderly Japanese lady started talking to me in Japanese. I said to her "wakanani" which means 'I don't know' in Japanese. She kept on talking and I managed to convince her I don't speak Japanese. She smiled and moved on. I was milling around and turned to see the same woman approach me again smiling and offering a freshly crisp Japanese 1,000 yen 💴 ☺️. She was talking to me and another woman was smiling at her words. I hesitantly took the money in shock wondering if she is really giving it to me. I waited a second to see if there would be an uproar. I said "Arigatto gozaimas" (thank you). The woman walked away and I gingerly walked to the cash register and paid for the items from the proffered money before anyone could stop me. My purchases came up to 550 yen. I didn't have to spend my own money. And I only had on me a little over a 1000 yen on my person. I am amazed as I have never had a total stranger give me money in my life. I figured she was saying thanks to me or welcoming me. I don't know. I am just grateful.
