Witnessing to a Jehovah's Witness (JW) 1. An effective way to start a conversation with a Jehovah's Witness Ask, "Can I show you something in your Bible?" JWs are trained to reject outside material, but their trust their own Bible. Show them John 20:28, where Thomas calls Jesus "My Lord and my God." If Jesus isn't God, why didn't He correct Thomas? 2. How should Christians respond when JW claim they follow the "true" Christianity? Ask, "If the Watchtower was wrong about past doctrines, can it be wrong now?" The Watchtower predicted the end of the world in 1874, 1914, 1915, 1918, 1925, 1975 (5-9 times)- each time being wrong. Deuteronomy 18:22 says a false prophet is one whose predictions fail. If a restaurant served you poison three times or more, would you keep eating there? 3. What's the best way to share the Gospel with a JW? Stick to Jesus's identity and grace. Ask, "If salvation is a free gift (Romans 6:23), why does the Watchtower say you have to earn it?" Point to Ephesians 2:8-9--- salvation is by grace, not by knocking on doors. Works don't save; Jesus does! 4. How should Christians respond when JW say, "We follow the Bible alone"? Ask, "Then why do you need the Watchtower to explain it?" JWs are told they can't understand the Bible without the Watchtower. But 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says Scripture alone is sufficient. If God's Word is enough, why trust a magazine company? 5. How do you challenge a JW when they refuse to read any non-JW literature? Ask, "Would you let a Mormon or Muslim use that excuse?" If truth has nothing to hide, why are they afraid of outside sources? 1 Thessalonians 5:21 says, "Test everything. " Truth stands up to scrutiny- lies require isolation. I hope this helps.
