“How do I learn to pray more?” Many Believers occasionally ask me this question—and I understand exactly where it stems from. In *Matthew 6:7*, our Lord Jesus Christ said, _“And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.”_ Let's put that aside, because we aren't pagans here. God isn't against us saying many words in prayer—so long those words are Spirit-led, Spirit-breathed, meaningful, in line with scriptures and the will of God. I know that feeling of _inadequacy_ that every Christian feels when their prayer isn't sufficient. It's not lack of faith, you're being discerning. You're not wrong to feel that way. You're not wrong to sense that the few minutes of prayer you did isn't enough. Don't get me wrong here. There are times and situations when a two-minute prayer would suffice; and there are other occasions when you are *really supposed to spend time with God in prayer.* When you're suppose to spend quality time with God in prayer, but you begin to find yourself getting tired too soon, having random distracting thoughts, or falling asleep in your place of prayer... you really should be worried. And this is exactly where the question on how to pray more often comes in. So how do you *actually* learn to pray more? 1. *Love Prayer:* The thought of prayer should appeal to you like the craving for your favorite meal. 2. *Love the Lord:* You don't get tired or bored of talking to someone you're really in love with. 3. *Fast consistently:* Start fasting consistently, if you're someone who easily feels tired or sleepy in the place of prayer. This subdues the Flesh. 4. *Push Yourself to Pray More:* intentionally extend each session of your prayer, while at the same time, ensuring the quality isn't lowered. 5. *Depend on the Spirit:* Yield to the Spirit and forget yourself in the place of prayer. Above all, remember, a prayer warrior isn't born in a day. Keep growing in prayer.
