When I wanted to be taught Japanese I found free teaching from Latter Day Saints aka Mormons. (That's a great evangelism tool that they use) I engaged them in teaching and they visited me and gave me their book of the mormons and would share 'the word' at the end of each lesson. During these teachings, I would be grieved and uncomfortable, refuting their heresies. They were no match for me and I didn't have the tools that I have now. They were obviously young missionaries as they weren't able to confront somethings they were saying. At one point one of the girls said, "They usually get people who don't know much about Christianity". (So those unsuspecting souls are way easy to fool) Below are some engaging questions you can use if you come in contact with a Mormon: (Please note, many Mormons are sincere, nice and kindhearted, so be gentle but firm - 1 Peter 3:15) 1. An effective way to start a conversation is by asking, "Who is Jesus to you?" "How do you know your church is true?" Mormons believe that Jesus is a created being, the spirit brother of Lucifer, and one of many gods. -John 1:1,15 & 2 Corinthians 11:4 refutes those claims. 2. If a Mormon says, 'I have a burning in my bosom' as proof of truth. Back that up with "feelings don't determine truth- facts do". Proverbs 28:26 & John 16:13 can be used here. 3. What's the best way to share the Gospel with a Mormon? Keep it simple and biblical: a. Who is God? (Isaiah 43:10) b. Who is Jesus? (John 1:1, Colossians 2:9) c. How are we saved? (Ephesians 2:8-9) Focus on Christ, not their false prophet Joseph Smith (Romans 1:16) God bless you. TBC
