God’s Sense of Humor and Kind Reminder
I was scrolling through my phone and turned to see my husband that was sitting on his computer playing video games with his buddies. I had been thinking in my mind ‘if only he wanted to know and read more of the Bible everyday like he does with video games, we’d be more advanced in our Bible reading studies together…. I want him to take charge as our spiritual leader in our home and even speak life over me as his wife…’ These thoughts came over and over.
I was there waiting for him to make the first move. But then out of nowhere I had a huge pain in my eye.
It literally felt like I was getting stabbed by a pick. And JUST as this was happening, my husband turns around and looks at me then realizes I have something wrong with my eye causing it to tear up.
He comes up to me and after asking if everything was alright, he does just what I was NOT expecting at allll. He prays over my eye. He prays healing on me.
In that very moment I felt so bad. Then after all felt well right after, I felt the Holy Spirit remind of the of verse where it talks about a whole log in your eye. (That alone is a lesson).
Matthew 7:3-5 NLT "And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.”
Right after reading that, I was in both awe and amazement. I just looked up and laughed a little bit. All I said was, “alright Lord. I see what you did there. I’m sorry, l’ll get right to it.”
So I opened up my Bible and another study book I’m reading and that’s where I see it.
You see, I shouldn’t have been waiting on anyone to speak life over me. God is the one who spoke life from the very beginning.
We see it in Genesis 1:3 ‘And God said “Let there be light,” and there was light.’
We see He did this after Genesis 1:1-2, ‘In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.’
When the earth was held captive and its wonder buried by fathoms of darkness that made it a formless void, God drew near. The spirit of God hovered over.
So, we see that God didn’t just come near, but he also Spoke. He spoke light, and there WAS light. Over every darkness. Over every void. You see where I’m going with this?
THIS is when I realized HE is whom speaks light into you and I. HE is the one that’s been waiting on US to make the first move. He’s the one who fulfills your deepest need for intimacy.
God is hovering and ready to speak life and light over you. We just have to remember to keep Him close and listen.
God bless!
